The roof climb at Adelaide oval was first established in 2016 and has now been offering the people of Adelaide to climb the “icon” for three years straight. This experience is defiantly one worth checking out as it offers a spectacular 360 degree view of the city as well as offers a unique way to watch some of your favourite sporting events, such as the cricket or a games of footy.
The team at roof climb offer three different walks, a day climb, a twilight climb and a night climb. The duration of your climb will last for approximately 2 hours, where your guide will walk you across the 1.4km track, whilst providing you with information about out famous city through a radio.
My personal experience took place on the 25th of August where me and one of my mates where lucky enough to climb during Port Powers final clash of the season, against Fremantle. We were led by a terrific instructor names Stuart, who has been working at roof-climb Adelaide for 2 years now. Stuart (AKA Stu), led our intimate group of 6 people along the track and towards to our seats, which sat 50 meters above the ground on the river back stand.
it was here where we got to do what is called the “lean out”, where you move your feet to the edge, and let go of the railing whilst only being attached by a rope and a few carabiners. This part of the climb was most daunting as all that is left behind you is a 50 meter drop straight down to the goal square! Overall though, this was an exceptional adventure as this activity really took me out of my comfort zone and got the adrenaline pumping.
It is a great activity to do with your mates or a your partner, when you are feeling a little bit rebellious and adventures.
